Graceful Grace

GracefulGlasswmLast Saturday I was at a crop and needed to make a quick Thinking of You card for a friend’s grandmother who just found out she had cancer.  I was already playing with the Graceful Glass Vellum paper that is in the new catalog on page 165.  I also used the Stampin’ Blends of Night of Navy, Old Olive, and Pumpkin Pie with both light and dark shades for both to color the design.

I started the card with Whisper White cardstock 5 1/2′ x 8 1/2″ scored at 4 1/4″.  I then added a layer of Night of Navy cardstock measuring 4″ x 5 1/4″. Then a Whisper White layer 3 3/4″ x 5″.  I backed the vellum piece with Night of Navy cardstock adhering it with mini glue dots.  I stamped the Thinking of You in Memento Tuxedo black inklaying it with Night of Navy and Whisper white cardstock, but unfortunately the sentiment stamp is not a Stampin’ Up one.

I took the picture with my phone, so I’m thinking that is the only reason for the white dots, as the card didn’t have any white spots on it!

The supplies I used are :

You may go click on the catalog button to go to my shopping page or you can go to designsbypennynelson.com which will take you to my shopping page at Stampin’ Up. My hostess code for June is HU4HFCX3 if your order is less than $150.00. If it is more you become the hostess.

House update:
Painting got started this week, laminate floors done, still have tile to put in both bathrooms and master closet. Starting to see a light at the end of the tunnel!

Till next time,

Graduation Card

Sarah wmHope you had a good Saturday. Just got back from a beautiful wedding of two people who are truly made for each other.

I have enclosed a card that I made for a special friend’s daughter who graduated this year. I used some new Stampin’ Up products and some previous products. I used a new framelet to make the name with.  It is the Layering Alphabet Edgelits which also come in a bundle with the Lined Alphabet stamp set.  The colors I used were Real Red and Night of Navy cardstock that was put on a Whisper White base card.  The flower unfortunately is not a SU product as the majority of my punches are still packed in the POD till we get our house all put back together.

Remember you can always shop online with me by clicking on the SU Catalog which will take you to my shopping page or by clicking on designsbypennynelson.com

Hi My Friends,

I have been off the radar for a few months as I have had some personal issues to take care of.  In the last of February I got a bad case of Acute Asthmatic Bronchitis.  I would just get it cleared up and then it would come back.  I could not get rid of it.  They did chest x-rays to be sure I didn’t have a hidden pneumonia which thankfully they were able to rule out.  Finally in mid April the Dr. said that they had tried different antibiotics, I was doing a home breathing treatment at least 3 times a day and nothing was clearing it up.  So, he said I needed to get out of the house for a good two weeks if I could, so I moved in with my daughter.  Within about three days I cleared right up and it didn’t come back.  So, that let us know there was something in the house that kept aggravating my asthma!  A few days after that the hot water heater leaked and we had a lot of water in our computer room on the side closest to the garage.  So to make a long story short we are replacing all our carpet in the house and putting down laminate throughout and porcelain tile in the bathrooms and master closet off the bathroom.  My stay for two weeks has gone into a few more weeks as you can see!  I did keep out some of my Stampin’ Up supplies so I could make cards and work on craft fair items!

The card that I made for my sweet friend who retired from 37 years of teaching last week is made with retiring products except for the Basket Weave embossing folder which is being carried over after being a Sale-a-bration item this year.

So, on to the directions for the card.  Using Whisper White cs cut it 5 1/2 ” x 8 1/2″ and score at 4 1/4″  .  Then run the front part of the card through the embossing folder  Basket Weave.  Next, stamp the basket  from Blossoming Basket on your Whisper White cs measuring 3 1/2″x 3 1/2″ using Memento Tuxedo Black Ink.  Then using Berry Burst ink for the flowers, Old Olive ink for the leaves and Crumb Cake ink for the basket and handle. Now put some ink in the lid of the stamp pads and use the blender pen to add color to the basket and flowers shading as you go along.  Adhere it to your Old Olive cs measuring 3 5/8″ x 3 5/8″ using Stampin’ Up Snail tape runner.  Now build the narrow strip of Petal Garden dsp measuring 4″ x 2″ to the old olive paper measuring 4 1/8″ x 2 1/8″ using Snail.  Next, using Snail put the 4 1/8″ paper to the left side of the embossed front of the card.  Then using a Stampin’ dimensional at each corner adhere to the top of the card.  Using a new stamp that will be coming out stamp it with Memento Tuxedo Black ink and cut it out with the retiring smallest size from Lots of Labels.  Adhere it using mini glue dots and then using linen thread make a small bow and adhere it on top of the sentiment using a mini glue dot.
