Eastern Palace Suite

I’m back from Kansas City!!  I had a wonderful time soaking up the Holy Spirit in the International House of Prayer KC, otherwise known as IHOPKC Prayer Room.  I enjoyed my time with my younger daughter Amy and her friends and going to her school to help her get her room ready for the new school year!!

My next few blog posts will be the cards I did in my Eastern Palace class.

I did 3 of the ones Stampin’ Up put out for us to use for a class.  I love this Suite of stamps, thinlits, and embellishments! This Suite can be found on pages 18 – 19 in the Annual Catalog.

Today’s card will be the top left one. It uses the new Tranquil Tide cs for the base and also the Designer Series paper which is cut at 5 1/4″ x 4″ being careful the wave pattern faces the right way.  The Very Vanilla piece is 4 3/4″ x 3 1/2″. You then run it through your big shot putting the thinlit close to the left side of the paper. You will use the large circle thinlit.  Next you will use a stamp from the Eastern Beauty set.  Using Lemon Lime Twist ink you will use the small circle and stamp a few times on the Very Vanilla piece.  Then using Tranquil Tide Ink you will stamp the sentiment “let’s be friends forever”, the swirly “s” at the bottom, and then the three little leave clusters and stamp in between the wishbone shapes. You then adhere it on the card using snail (tape runner).  Next you will cut the flower out using a 3″x 3″ square of Fresh Fig cs, where you will need to use both of the star thinlits, fitting the smaller one into the larger one and running it through the big shot.  Then use a circle from the Eastern Gold Vinyl Stickers and put it in the center of the flower.  Adhere the flower using a Stampin’ Dimensional.

Friend

all cards wm

Today’s card is the bottom right “friend” card that uses all the new in – colors for 2017 – 2019.  This is so easy to do and again that’s why I chose to do it at my open-house launch of the new annual catalog!

The card base uses Basic Black cardstock. It measures 5 1/2″ x 8 1/2″ scored at 4 1/4″.  The Whisper White layer is 4 1/8″ x 5 1/4″ adhered to the black cardstock.  A second piece of Whisper White cardstock is 4″ x 5″ upon which you you build the front of the card. Each of the strips are 1″ x 5″ and will be adhered unto this piece.  The strip colors are Powder Pink, Berry Burst, Tranquil Tide, Fresh Fig and Lemon Lime Twist. Trim the ends if needed.

Cut out a Whisper White large oval using the Stitched Shapes Framelits where the word “friend”is glued on .  “friend”is cut from Basic Black cardstock using the new Lovely Words Thinlits (143733) that also comes in a bundle with the Lovely Inside & Out Stamp Set.

With eitherMulti-Purpose glue or the Fine Tip glue adhere “friend” to the Whisper White oval.

Next take some Lemon Lime Twist ribbon and wrap around the card front.  Then adhere the card front to the Whisper White layer.

Complete the card by using Stampin’ Dimensionals to put the oval on top of the ribbon.

Since we are using Basic Black cardstock for the card base pu a Whisper White layer 4′ x 5″ inside the card.

Happy Wednesday

Had my Hostess Club gathering last night.  I always have a lot of fun with those gals 🙂  Unfortunately we were missing some because of summertime and vacations.

Today I’m going to share the bottom left card. It was using the Color Theory Suite.

Smile wm

I love this stamp set Colorful Seasons as it has such versatility.  You can do a summer at the beach because of the lounger chair.  You can can do a fall card using the leaf stamps.  There is a snowflake stamp for a winter card.  This suite also has a Memories and More pack which you can use in photo album, scrapbook pages or to add that extra wow to a card!

The base of this card is Berry Burst cardstock which is 5 1/2″ by 8 1/2″ scored at 4 1/4″.  Next layer is Whisper White which is cut at 4″ x 5 1/4″.  For the open house I had a choice of 4 different colors to choose from which included Berry Burst, Dapper Denim, Crushed Curry, and Old Olive which was cut to the size 3 3/4″ x 5″ and was adhered to the Whisper White layer with stampin dimensionals.  I cut the flowers out of the variegated side of the Color Theory DSP paper using the flower thinlit from the  Seasonal Layers thinlits that go with the stamp set.  The middle of the flower dots used the Glitter Enamel Dots that go this Suite.

I stamped the saying You make me Smile from the stamp set Colorful Seasons onto a scrap of  Whisper White cardstock.  This card used the Berry Burst ink and was then punched out using the new Pretty Label punch.  Also, the Pretty Label punch was used with the DSP paper.

This suite can be found on pgs. 146 – 147 in the new annual catalog.

You can purchase these products by clicking on the catalog icon to shop with me.  The code for the month of July is JBBJWHFC.  If you spend up to $ 149.99 use that code but if you spend $150.00 or more don’t use it and you will receive the Stampin Rewards.

Till next time a big HUG!

The first card today will be the top left one.  I saw it on Pinterest and thought it was so cute and easy to do.  It was from the Birthday Memories Suite found on pg. 68 – 69 in the new catalog.

It was your regular A2 size card using Blushing Bride cardstock.  The first layer was paper from the DSP Birthday Memories paper.  It was cut at 5 1/4″ x 4″.  The Happy Birthday was stamped at the left side of the 2 3/4″ x 5 1/2″ Whisper White piece using Real Red ink.  Blushing Bride cardstock was used to cut out the largest Stitched Oval shaped Framelit.  The little girl is cut out from another Birthday Memories DSP paper along with the present. Blushing Bride 3/8″ Stitched Satin Ribbon (retired) was used .  Put the ribbon under the Whisper White piece and then tie a knot using a smaller piece of ribbon.

Cool Treats Card #2

all 4 cool treat cards wm

Such a cool breezy day here in Katy, TX.  It was in high 80’s yesterday and high is only going to be 72 today!  Crazy weather!!  At least this weather will hold out tomorrow and not rain on us when we drive to Shreveport, LA, for the On Stage Stampin Up gathering  🙂

Today’s card is on the bottom left.  Base uses Sweet Sugarplum cs which is 5 1/2″ x 8 1/2″ scored at 4 1/4″ Next layer is Vary Vanilla cut at 5 1/4″ x 4″ and then run through embossing folder Large Polka Dot using the Big Shot.

The bowl cut out in Crumb Cake cs, ice cream scoops are cut out using Very Vanilla cs, to have it be a French Vanilla flavor, the topping is in Chocolate Chip cs, while the cherry is cut from a scrap of Whisper White cs and then colored using Stampin Write markers Real Red and Pear Pizazz, while the spoon is cut from a scrap of silver foil.  They are all cut out the Frozen Treats Framelits Dies found in the Occasions catalog.   The toppings are adhered to the ice cream scoops before the scoops of ice cream are adhered to the bowl using Tombow glue except for one scoop which is adhered with Stampin Dimensionals.  The cherry and spoon are also glued on. You then glue the bowl to the4″ x 2 1/2″ Very Vanilla cs.  Using Sweet Sugarplum ink you stamp the sentiment from the Cool Treats Stamps.

To assemble the card you adhere the Very Vanilla piece onto the 4″ x 2 3/4″ piece of Sweet Sugarplum cs.  Then you tie a piece of Sweet Sugarplum Ruched Ribbon around the embossed Very Vanilla piece and then adhere it all to the base card using Tombow glue.

I hope you enjoy making this Yummy card!

Cool Treats

This week I’m going to post the cards I did for my Cool Treats Class in March.

all 4 cool treat cards wm

The first card top left I like to call “peek a-boo” card.  It uses Chocolate Chip cs for the base.  A piece of DSP from Tasty Treats is cut at 5 1/4″ x 4″.  Fold it in half and just gently pinch it so as not to make an entire fold.  Then using paper trimmer cut in 1 1/2″ and then fold each of those halves back to make the triangles.  Using a small glue dot will help hold the edges down.

The largest stitched circle framelits was cut out using Watermelon Wonder cs.  The ice cream cone was cut out using the Frozen Treats Framelits Dies.  The cone used Chocolate Chip, the ice cream scoops used Peek-a-Boo Peach and Whisper White cs.  The fudge topping was cut out in Chocolate Chip cs. The cherry was cut out in Whisper White and then colored using Real Red and Pear Pizazz markers.

The sentiment “Sweet” was stamped on a 1 3/4″ x 1″ piece of Watermelon Wonder cs  using Chocolate Chip ink.  Then rounded the corners using Project Life corner rounder. After that use a sponge dauber and go around the edges with Chocolate Chip ink.

Using Tombow glue on the DSP piece put it on the front of the base. Use Stampin Dimensionals to put the other pieces on the card.

You can purchase any of these products by going to either catalog to shop at the store.

I have a new monthly shopping code which is ) KDJMTVZQ for you to use if you order up to $149.00.  If you order $150.00 or more you will be the hostess and receive the Stampin Rewards.

Window Box

Hi All,

Welcome back to Designs By Penny.  Last Friday I had my friend Cyndi over and she helped me get my creative juices flowing again which had been missing for awhile.

Ever since the Occasions came out I had been wanting to make this Window Box using Window Box Thinlit Dies.

window-box-w-succulentwm-copy

I started with Whisper White and cut two boxes. I then cut squares from the Sending Love DSP series using the Stitched square framelits. Next using Read Red cardstock I cut the Succulent out using Succulent Framelit dies.  I then used the heart stamp with whisper white craft ink from the Oh So Succulent set. I had to let the white ink dry for a while longer than other inks.  Then I cut out the leaves in Cucumber Crush cs and used Garden Green ink to stamp the vines on them.  Finally I added a pearl embellishment to comple the succulent.

One hint I can tell you, is that on one of the boxes you can cut off both side tabs as it otherwise makes it to bulky and doesn’t want to stay together as easily.

Here are the products I used to make this adorable window box.

Fall / Autumn Cards

Happy Saturday!  The weather is finally starting to cool off.  Not in the 90’s but in the high 70’s for a high and 53 for a low!!  Good football weather 🙂

The following card was one they made in class this past Thursday and today.

img_0861wm

I was just playing around with inks and remembered how Brandy Cox had used big acrylic blocks at On Stage Live so I thought I would see about using a smaller block and see what I could come with.  I loved this!!

I used acrylic block A and the following inks: Cherry cobbler, Crushed Curry, Pumpkin Pie, Old Olive to make the squares on the Very Vanilla paper. Other inks used were Soft Suede for the large leaves and Early Espresso for the small leaves from the Vintage Leaves stamp set.  This was all stamped on a 5 1/4″ x 4″ piece of Very Vanilla.  Then use Cherry Cobbler ribbon from the 3/8″ Silky Taffeta combo pack found in the Holiday catalog.  It was then adhered to a Cherry Cobbler base card 5 1/2″ x 8 1/2″ scored at 4 1/4″. The sentiment is from Acorny Thank You and stamped on Very Vanilla with Cherry Cobbler ink and punched out using the Decorative Label Punch.  I then went around the edges with Cherry Cobbler ink before putting it on the card using Stampin’ Dimensionals.

These are the products I used:
